Finding Light in the Darkness: A New Year’s Message
As we step into a brand-new year, I want to take a moment to wish you all a Happy New Year. This season can be a time of reflection, connection, and fresh starts, but it can also be a challenging period for many.
For some, the New Year highlights the absence of loved ones who are no longer with us. The memories we hold of those we’ve lost can feel especially poignant at this time of year. For others, the shorter days and long nights of winter can bring on symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), making it harder to feel cheerful or motivated. And for people like me, past experiences of trauma or mental health challenges at this time of year can resurface, bringing difficult memories and emotions.
If you find this season hard, please know you are not alone. It’s okay to acknowledge your feelings and take steps to care for your mental and emotional well-being. Whether it’s finding small moments of peace, reaching out to someone you trust, or giving yourself permission to step back from overwhelming commitments, remember that your well-being matters.
While the festive period and the start of a new year can be bittersweet, they also hold the promise of new beginnings. As we move through 2025, I am excited to share that Kairos Support Solutions will be growing and offering even more ways to support mental health and emotional well-being. Group therapeutic sessions will be launching in February, and there is still availability for 1-2-1 sessions as well, providing flexible support tailored to your needs. I’ll be sharing more details very soon, so stay tuned for updates!
For now, I hope you can find moments of light and hope in the weeks ahead. Whether it’s the warmth of a kind word, the comfort of a small tradition, or the prospect of brighter days to come, may you feel supported and cared for this season and beyond.
Wishing you peace, strength, and hope as we navigate this New Year together.
